I’m a 5-foot, 1-inch tall redhead trying to fight my way in networking, hence the nickname redwarrior. I’ve worked in networking for about a year now and am working my way towards my CCNP, with 2 exams down (ISCW and ONT) and 2 more to go. I work as a network engineer in healthcare and I spent a good portion of my time working in wireless networking, which I enjoy for the challenges and opportunities it brings. In my personal life, my challenges include balancing work and study with a very lively family with a son who is 5 and a daughter about to turn 3.
Ironically, all this began back on a farm in rural Illinois where I grew up and then went on to college at the University of Illinois determined to be an architect. It turns out that I’m not very good at architecture, something it took my stubborn mind until the middle of my senior year to accept. Since then, I have accepted that I am a geek and embraced it. I guess you could say that I am in recovery from denial of my geekdom. Now I have no such illusions and I aspire to have a network closet in my living room and a CCIE number to go with my name.
