CCNP Links

ONT Study Links:

Cisco Learning Website’s ONT Section – If you haven’t checked out the Cisco Learning website, you probably haven’t taken a Cisco exam.  They are well known for having resources there that are not in the exam guides, but are featured in the exam questions.

VoIP Bandwidth Calculator – This link is good both for study and the real world where you do get to use calculators…it’s free, too.

Overview of QoS – A Cisco page with links to information about IntServ, DiffServ and all things QoS

Network Baselining Best Practices – A whitepaper by Cisco outlining best practices for establishing a network baseline.  Beyond the scope of the ONT exam, but good to do in the real world *before* coming up with a QoS plan.

Understanding Delay in VoIP Networks – Another Cisco link, this time detailing the different types of delay that affect VoIP networks, which are variable, which are static, and which you can mitigate with QoS.

Configuration Examples for QoS for VoIP -  A great page with tons of configuration examples for QoS.

ISCW Study Links:

Cisco Learning’s ISCW Website – This is Cisco Learning’s ISCW section which includes the exam objectives, study resources and practice quizzes as well as games!

SONA Overview – Cisco is pushing redefining networking, moving away from the OSI Model to the SONA model for defining how the network and applications interact.  This is a good link to their site for an overview of what this means.

DOCSIS Standards – For ISCW, you need to know the basics of the cable modem provisioning process and how the DOCSIS standard works.  This is a link to cablemodem.com for DOCSIS information.

Designing Site-to-Site IPsec VPN’s, parts 1 and 2 – A very in-depth, step by step look at the considerations involved in designing a site-to-site IPsec VPN solution from NIL.

Cisco’s DSL Router Troubleshooting Guide – You need to be able to troubleshoot DSL connections via debugs and logs as well as looking for configuration errors.  This link on Cisco’s site helps with all of these.

Cisco’s PPP section – This feature guide for the 6400 router includes details on the configuration of PPPoA and PPPoE.  These can be a tricky spot for some ISCW candidates, so be sure to study up!
